hi, a couple of days back i saw a rerun of 'the titanic'. a collosal movie. those guys should have gone mad making that movie. ok, its a different kind of a movie making system... but anyway that movie was a little too much. the scale is whats impressive, imagine having to create a set of the whole ship and they made one thats about the real size. imagine all the props and stuff and all the research to get to that stuff. Ok, thats not the interesting fact, the interesting fact is that, titanic is about a decade old, and ppl have loved it and still continue to like it. so i decided to do a little research. got on to the imdb site and searched for titanic. then went on to the titanic discussion board on imdb. there i posted a question of my own. Now its about 24 hours since i posted that question. the question was very simple :
if you could live one character in the movie.... (live/die as a character... and be remembered for it...not just play it in the movie) who would that be...
and in these24 hours, i've got 13 responses so far. and so far its been a clear majority for rose. every female i guess wants to be rose. and the reason... simple.... jack.. so i have six votes for rose so far. one post says "Rose, because she gets to *ahem* with jack. then, a very distant second is second officer lights... with two votes. followed by 1st officer murdoch, capt. ej smith, molly brown etc with one vote each. one person wanted to be one of jack's friends and someone wanted to be the irish woman who tucks the two kids into bed. i am surprised no one mentioned about the musicians who continued to play and keep up the spirits. lets c what happens on the board. if anyone of u want to visit it, its in imdb in the titanic page with the topic 'who would you be???'you will have to register with imdb to access it.

Tokeleau or Dot TK.: ok the other day, when i was just wandering thro the net, i came across this dot tk site. It is one of those guys who give you a domain free so that you can use a short and specific domain name ending with a dot tk and then redirect to any other domain you have, which might have a very difficult name. sounded like a nice concept. they run ads on your dot tk domain and you have to pay them to get these ads removed. or you can buy these domains to have control over them... whatever... but that is not what is ineresting. i wandered a little more and stumbled across tokeleau. Tokeleau is a small island noth east of newzeland - it is in the middle of nowhere in the sea. it seems it takes 32 hours by boat to get there from the nearest place. and this is a set of 3 islands or as they call it atolls (whatever) i think the islands put together would not have more than a thousand inhabitants. ok.. why am i writing about this.... well nothing, it sounded so romatic. a island in the middle of the ocean, with no acess to anywhere. especially to ppl like us who are used to living in the mainland. a UN report also says that global warming will drown these islands some time during this centuary. now that is even more adventerous. its a nice dream to settle in that island, you get to fish, climb coconut trees and then fish and then climb coconut trees and fish and climb trees....
also mentioned is the fact that the dot tk project has installed a browsing centre and high speed internet on the island. its like a study on the effects of the internet on a very distant cut off society. anyway, should be interesting to live in that place. will do some more research on it later.
also... those guys in the island are so jobless that they come up with innovative ways to make life interesting. they have different numbering systems for different things. For us two coconuts is same as two monkeys.. the concept of the number two is the same in these cases. But for them, they have different numbering systems for cocounts,a different numeral system for octopus, and yet another system for fishes...
anyway, once u go there, i am sure you will not much free time on your hands. you will need much more than a normal human life span to get thro two or three of their systems.

pluto, my dear friend, they shouldn't have done this to you. after all, you've been around for so long in your position as a planet, and after all your valuable, precious, unique contributions to mankind, well, it's a little hard to digest this unceremonious stripping off ur planethood. ok.. k I might never have seen you eye to eye... or even if i've seen you, i wouldn't recognize u in the crowd out there... but i've read about you right from when i was a little boy... and you were so helpful. it was just so easy to round off the nine planets with a singsong.. uranus.. neptune.. and pluto... And then the other pluto, the walt disney creation, i kind of imagined you looked like that at times... and he too was a jolly good fellow.. kind of dumb at times, but entertaining neverthless.So that is the image i have of you in my mind... and come to think of it you were the only planet with that kind of an image. all others were just boring letters on paper... well such is life and these things are outside my relm of control... but then i will always remember you as the ninth planet... so long friend.. not being a planet does not stop you from being the ninth rock from the sun. just do ur duty and don't worry about the results.... as they say... you rock... dude....

yes i am back, after that strong resolve to keep this thing active, i am back now to execute it. well the problem is, where to begin. ok let me start off with a little info about myself. I am 30yrs old. from india, south india. i did my schooling and college and then chose the advertising industry as my battlefield. have been through many different aspects of the industry, seen things from different perspectives inside the industry and am now on my own doing television production. That is, i make the audio visual componenet of corporate communication material, like presentations, corporate films, educational and motivational videos etc. Like all jobs this too gets boring after some time, but by then, you are in it for the money and so there is no escape.
It has been about 10 yrs since i left college and in these 10 years i have undergone a lot of change. from working for organisations, to setting up ur own shop, it has been one hell of a joyride. well thats how i see it now. one hell of a joy ride.
maybe we shall get into a little more detail about college and those years later.
Now, i am on a 6 month break, from my normal line of business and into something entirely differently.

hmmm. what's the point in having a blog and u don't write anything in it. well it's not that i never intent to write in it. just that there is nothing worthy to write today. maybe, tomorrow will be a little more interesting and there would be more things to write. ok. today i kind of took the day off. things are not going in the direction i expected it to go. something is lacking somewhere. the control has passed on. now no one really knows whats happening. its that story about too many cooks spoiling the broth. ok, i hope things didn't go too bad today. the result of all this is that we are lagging too much behind schedule. at this pace it will take quite a long time to complete this project. and if things go on like this other characters will start having their way and things will move from bad to worse. so lets c whats happening.
so, i think i will make a begining today. and keep this updated...
hmm.. such resolutions were made earlier too... but nothing happened after that... hope this one would be different. if not for anything else, atleast will get into the habit of writing... so more on this tomo.
